School №6, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2022-2023

Number of students: 573

After a missile hit in March 2022, the school suffered substantial damages. The explosive wave destroyed 88 windows and part of the heating system. The building was repaired at the expense of the city budget.
To ensure that children could study safely even during alerts, the Angels of Freedom Foundation helped renovate the basement into a comfortable and functional shelter with classrooms.

What was provided:

• The basement was transformed into a comfortable shelter with classrooms;
• 260 folding chairs were bought;
• 80 folding desks;
• 2 fire extinguishers;
• 3 heaters;
• Routing devices, power strips and other equipment.

Total amount spent: UAH 2,000,000 ($54,000)

The project was implemented thanks to the support of Grimbergen Abbey (Belgium) and the Angels of Freedom volunteer center in Kazakhstan.

School №13, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2023

Number of students: 939

This school is the only one in its district that survived the massive airstrikes. Two neighboring schools were completely destroyed, and students from the destroyed schools were relocated here.
To provide safety for almost a thousand students, the Angels of Freedom helped to set up a shelter and equipped it with the necessary equipment for learning during air raid alerts.

What was provided:

• 60 folding chairs;• 30 folding desks;• kettles, microwave ovens, and thermoses;• additional essential equipment.

Total amount spent: UAH 92,100 ($2,128)

The project was implemented in partnership with the We Are All from Ukraine Foundation and with the support of the Angels of Freedom volunteer center in Kazakhstan.

Kindergarten №37 “Kazka”, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2023

Number of children: 101

The kindergarten's shelter was formerly unusable for long-term use: damp walls, lack of ventilation and poor lighting created unsafe conditions.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation installed a ventilation system and purchased all the necessary building materials, enabling the staff to carry out renovations themselves and create a safe, comfortable space for the children.

What was provided:

• Ventilation system was installed; • Materials for comprehensive renovation of the shelter (tiles, paint, electricity supplies); • 85 children's chairs, 10 benches and 4 tables; • 12 lamps and 12 (10-liter) thermoses.

Total amount spent: UAH 203,700 ($4,850)

Kindergarten №74, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2023

Number of children: 204

The kindergarten’s shelter required a comprehensive renovation to provide children with safe and comfortable conditions during air raid alerts. The main issues were the lack of quality flooring and poor air circulation.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation carried out renovations, furnished the kindergarten and installed a ventilation system, making the rooms warm, dry and safe.

What was provided:

• floor tiles resistant to impacts and temperature changes were laid; • a full ventilation system was installed; • 30 children's chairs were purchased; • 10 wooden benches; • 20 children's tables.

Total amount spent : UAH 255,000 ($6,073)

School №12, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2023

Number of students: 918

During active hostilities in February–March 2022, the school basement became a shelter for 360 citizens. Later, after the school reopened, there was a need to create a comfortable shelter where children could stay for long time during alarms.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation helped to equip the shelter with furniture so that each child could have their own spot for studying and relaxing.

What was provided:

• 200 folding chairs.

Total amount spent : UAH 130,200 ($3,100)

Kindergarten №14 “Maliatko”, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2023

Number of children: 123

The shelter at this kindergarten needed to provide a warm, comfortable space for children to stay during alarms. However, the facility was cold and unsuitable for children to stay in for long periods of time.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation helped the kindergarten create the right conditions for warmth and comfort by providing the facility with the necessary equipment and furniture.

What was provided:

• 2 UFO infrared heaters; • 15 children’s chairs; • 12 trapezoid-shaped children’s tables; • 3 three-tier children’s beds.

Total amount spent: UAH 92,400 ($2,200)

Kindergarten №65, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2022

Number of children: 192

This kindergarten was the first in Chernihiv to resume its work after active hostilities. It reopened its doors to children in August 2022. The building was not damaged, but the shelter needed to be equipped so that children could stay safe during alerts.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation provided the kindergarten with everything it needed to create a comfortable and safe shelter.

What was provided:

• Ventilation system was installed;
• 2 old doors were replaced;
• 4 toilet cubicles;
• 10 children's tables;
• 15 children's chairs.

Total amount spent: UAH 221,300 ($5,270)

Kindergarten №53 and №59, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2024

Number of children: 510 (340 + 170)

These two kindergartens have a shared shelter, which can hold more than 500 children during air raid alerts. The shelter was outdated, unsafe, with poor ventilation, lighting and furniture.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation renovated the shelter by installing a new ventilation system, wiring it for electricity and purchasing furniture for the children's areas.

What was provided:

Total amount spent: UAH 539,000 ($12,457)

Kindergarten №54, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2024

Number of children: 138

The shelter of this kindergarten remained damp and unsuitable for long-term stay. Due to the poor ventilation the air in the room was humid, which created discomfort and health risks for children.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation helped to ensure clean air and safe conditions by installing a new ventilation system and updating the electrical wiring.

What was provided:

• Ventilation system was installed;
• Outdated electrical wiring was replaced.

Total amount spent: UAH 226,300 ($5,230)

Kindergarten №71, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2024-2025

Number of children: 240

This kindergarten cares for 240 children every day. The facility needed significant renovation, because outdated electrical wiring, a lack of ventilation and heating created risks to the safety and comfort of the children.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation helped transform the shelter into a safe and modern space by installing a new ventilation system and heat pump and upgrading the electrical wiring. The shelter was also equipped with the necessary furniture for children's activities and rest.

What was provided:

• Ventilation system was installed; • Outdated electrical wiring was replaced; • Heat pump was installed; • 26 children's chairs; • 13 children's trapezoidal tables; • 3 three-tier children's beds.

Total amount spent: UAH 257,700 ($5,956)

Kindergarten №57 “Voloshka,” Cherkasy

Year of implementation: 2024

Number of children: 82

The shelter was built with support of the Angels of Freedom Foundation and is meant for the nursery and younger groups (38 kids in total). Before, the shelter was in bad condition, with damaged walls, old wiring, and damp floors.
The Angels of Freedom Foundation helped transform the basement into a safe and cozy space where children can calmly wait for the alarm to end, play, and read with their teachers.

What was provided:

• Ceiling, walls, floor, and steps were repaired. • Waterproofing was installed; • Electrical wiring was replaced; • 24 children's chairs; • 8 children's trapezoidal tables; • A multifunctional three-tiered bed.

Total amount spent: UAH 235,120 ($5,434)

The project was implemented with the support of the Angels of Freedom volunteer center in Kazakhstan and a private patron.

Troitsko-Safonivska Gymnasium, Kazanka settlement hromada, Mykolaiv region

Year of implementation: 2025

Number of students: 138

This gymnasium became the first project of the Angels of Freedom Foundation in the Mykolaiv region. In a region where more than 3,600 air raid sirens have sounded since the start of the full-scale invasion, the school needed a safe and comfortable shelter for classes during times of danger.
The foundation provided complete furniture for the shelter, creating a modern, comfortable and cozy space for children to study even during alarms.

What was provided:

• 25 chairs for students in grades 1–2; • 30 chairs for students in grades 3–4; • 4 trapezoidal tables for grades 1–2; • 8 trapezoidal tables for grades 3–4; • 80 folding chairs for grades 5–9; • 20 folding desks for grades 5–9.

Total amount spent: UAH 117,200 ($2,708)

The project was implemented with the support of the Angels of Freedom volunteer center in Kazakhstan. The furniture was purchased on special terms in partnership with Vital Style, NIKAN GROUP and JYSK Ukraine.

Kindergarten №46 “Teremok”, Chernihiv

Year of implementation: 2025

Number of children: 107

The simplest shelter at the Teremok kindergarten was completely renovated, as it previously didn't meet safety requirements. Thanks to the joint efforts of a patron from Kazakhstan, the local community, volunteers and socially responsible businesses in Ukraine, the shelter has become a cozy, safe and child-friendly space.

What was provided:

• Walls, ceilings, and floors were repaired • A forced ventilation system was installed • Fire alarms and lighting were installed • New emergency doors, railings, and steps were installed •The shelter was divided into zones • The shelter was furnished with children's furniture (14 tables, 5 folding beds, 3 frameless poufs), rechargeable flashlights, and puzzle mats

Total amount spent : UAH 599,900 ($13,865)

The project was implemented in partnership with a patron and volunteers from Kazakhstan, the Chernihiv community and socially responsible businesses in Ukraine (TM Siltek, LLC Construction supply group, Konstant Furniture Factory, Goodevas Ukraine, Private Entrepreneur S.S. Dikalov, NGO Active Community Ukraine).

Specialized Kindergarten №7 “Zirochka,” Cherkasy

Year of implementation: 2025

Number of children: 38

This institution educates 38 children with special educational needs, 24 of whom are children with disabilities, as well as refugees and children affected by war. The Angels of Freedom Foundation organized a meeting and was able to provide the kindergarten with furniture, which significantly improved the quality of time the children will spend in the shelter during an emergency.

What was provided:

• Three-tiered bed; • Frameless poufs;• Toy shelf;• Montessori play set;• Two Montessori helper towers;• Folding chair.

Total amount spent : UAH 33,548 ($775)
