The “Sonechko” preschool in Ukraine’s Chernihiv Region serves 43 children. Among them are 5 internally displaced children, 23 children who have been affected by the war, 2 children who have lost a parent serving in the military, and 4 children whose parents are currently serving in the military.

During air raid alerts, the children must take shelter. However, the shelter’s current condition is far from providing a comfortable environment suitable for extended stays.

The shelter covers just 17.22 m². It has brick walls and a concrete ceiling, while wooden pallets have been placed on the floor to help protect the children from the cold. There is no ventilation system, and instead of proper furniture, the children use old benches that also serve as tables.

For children who are already experiencing the effects of war, spending time in such an environment during air raid alerts adds even more discomfort and stress.

We want to change this and transform the shelter into a safe, warm, and comfortable space where children can feel more secure during air raid alerts.

У дитсадку «Дюймовочка» (село Воронівка, Вознесенський район, Миколаївська область) укриття розташоване в приміщенні колишнього погребу, який раніше використовувався для зберігання овочів.
Сьогодні саме тут під час повітряних тривог перебувають 26 дітей, серед яких – малюки до 4 років, діти військових, діти з багатодітних родин. Щоденний стрес від війни й обстрілів посилюється стресом від дискомфортного перебування в сховищі під час повітряних тривог.
Наразі укриття має базове електричне освітлення, мінімальний набір меблів і обігрівач. Підлога цементна, приміщення холодне, вологе, із запахом сирості. Повноцінної вентиляції, утеплення та гідроізоляції немає. Для тривалого перебування дітей ці умови є неприйнятними. Ми разом можемо виправити це.
